Facility Upgrades and Long-Term Vision
Teams at the Georgetown site are actively preparing the melt shop, casters, and rolling facilities for recommissioning. Gulve has emphasized his focus on building a profitable and sustainable operation, improving cost efficiency, and maintaining a safe working environment.
Liberty Steel USA CEO Michael Setterdahl, part of GFG Alliance (https://www.gfgalliance.com), highlighted Gulve’s leadership as a key asset in expanding the company’s U.S. presence.
Liberty originally acquired the Georgetown plant from ArcelorMittal (https://corporate.arcelormittal.com) in 2017. The restart aligns with its broader GREENSTEEL initiative, which aims to deliver low-carbon steel production and support more sustainable manufacturing in the United States.
