MD ELEKTRONIK Expands with New Automotive Cable Plant in Bulgaria
MD ELEKTRONIK, a Germany-based automotive connectivity specialist, has announced a $12.7 million investment to build a new MD ELEKTRONIK Bulgaria automotive cable plant. The expansion supports growing demand for data cables and electronic components in the automotive sector.

The facility will be located in Vratsa, near Sofia, and will operate under the name MD ELEKTRONIK EOOD. It will focus on producing automotive data cables and electronic systems.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2020, and the plant will create approximately 300 new jobs in the region.

Strategic Location for European Growth
MD ELEKTRONIK selected Bulgaria due to its skilled workforce, strong infrastructure, and central European location. The site also offers excellent logistics and proximity to key automotive manufacturers and suppliers, especially near the Romanian border.
The new facility will improve flexibility and strengthen service for European customers.
Expanding Global Production Network
This investment enhances MD ELEKTRONIK’s global footprint. The company continues to grow its presence across Europe, North America, and Asia.
In 2015, MD ELEKTRONIK opened offices in the U.S. and China. It also established operations in Mexico, including a plant in León that began production in 2016.
New Technology Center in Germany
In addition, MD ELEKTRONIK is building a new technology center at its headquarters in Waldkraiburg, Germany. The 4,400-square-meter facility will support innovation, research, and product development, with completion planned for 2019.
