HFCL Expands into Europe with New Optical Fiber Cable Plant in Poland
HFCL Limited (HFCL)ย plans to expand into Europe by building aย new optical fiber cable (OFC) manufacturing plant in Poland. This move strengthens HFCLโs position in global telecommunications and helps meet growing OFC demand across theย U.K., Germany, Belgium, France,ย andย Poland.
Strengthening Export Growth and Market Reach
HFCL aims to boost exports fromย 30% to 70%ย of its OFC revenue within the nextย four to five years. This new manufacturing base will help increase production scale and improve delivery efficiency.
Europe shows strong potential for fiber growth. Analysts project its OFC market will rise at aย 4.5% CAGRย throughย 2028, reachingย 90 million fiber kilometers (mf km)ย in annual demand. Meanwhile, theย FTTH Councilย expectsย 308 million homesย across the EU to gainย fiber-to-the-home (FTTH)ย connections byย 2028โa goal arriving three to five years ahead of schedule. As a result, OFC demand continues to accelerate across Europe.
Why Poland Is the Strategic Choice
Polandย offers favorable conditions for manufacturing expansion. The nation provides access to numerousย European markets, cost-effective operations, and attractive government incentive programs. In addition, Polandโs advancedย ports and infrastructureย ensure easy trade routes across the continent. The availability ofย skilled laborย at lower cost further supports HFCLโs decision to locate in the region.
Expanding Capacity and Reducing Transit Time
The Poland facility will start with aย 3.25 mf kmย annual capacity, scalable up toย 7 mf km. Backed by aย $22 million investment, it will improve agility and reduce transit time byย about six weeks. As a result, HFCL can respond more quickly to customer needs and increase order fulfillment across Europe. The new facility will operate under aย stepdown subsidiary in Poland, managed byย HFCL B.V.
Combined with its Indian facilities, HFCL will manageย three modern plantsย producingย 25 mf kmย annually, ensuring seamless global supply.
Supporting Europeโs Gigabit Future
Mahendra Nahata, Managing Director ofย HFCL, said the companyโs European expansion aligns perfectly withย Europeโs gigabit connectivity vision. โThis new venture marks a major milestone in HFCLโs global journey,โ he explained. โIt demonstrates our commitment to delivering high-quality communication solutions worldwide.โ
Through this initiative, HFCL solidifies its strategy to lead the global optical fiber industry and support the future of high-speed, sustainable networks.
