Motherson Sumi Expands UAE Presence with New Manufacturing Facility
The Motherson Sumi UAE factory marks a key step in the company’s global expansion strategy. Motherson Sumi Systems (MSSL) (https://www.motherson.com) announced that its subsidiary, Motherson PKC Harness Systems, is building a new manufacturing facility in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The company held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) (https://rakez.com), signaling the start of construction.
Motherson Sumi UAE Factory Construction Begins in RAKEZ
The new facility will sit on a 21,000-square-meter site in Ras Al Khaimah. The company expects operations to begin in the second quarter of 2020.
Chairman Vivek Chaand Sehgal highlighted that this expansion will increase access to global markets and support long-term growth. The plant will manufacture wire harnesses, rearview mirrors, and include injection molding capabilities.
Expanding Global Manufacturing Capabilities
Motherson Sumi operates as a joint venture with Sumitomo Wiring Systems (https://www.sws.co.jp). The company produces a wide range of components, including wiring harnesses, battery cables, and high-level assemblies.
In 2017, MSSL expanded further by acquiring PKC Group Plc, strengthening its position as a global tier 1 supplier serving OEMs across North America, Europe, Brazil, and China.
