Lake Cable Expands Valparaiso Plant with $7 Million Investment

Lake Cable Valparaiso Plant Expansion Project Details

The project will add 82,000 square feet to the existing 126,000-square-foot plant, significantly increasing production capacity. The company expects to complete construction by 2020.

Lake Cable currently operates five manufacturing plants, including three in Indiana, and employs approximately 450 workers. This expansion supports rising demand across multiple industries and strengthens the company’s manufacturing capabilities.

Company Growth and Industry Reach

Lake Cable President Emile Tohme expressed optimism about the company’s continued growth. He pointed to strong business development since the company expanded into Valparaiso more than a decade ago.

Founded by Bill Runzel IV in the 1990s on the west side of Chicago, Lake Cable began with three wire-making machines and a small team of four employees. Today, the company serves a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Utility and renewable energy
  • Commercial construction and HVAC
  • Petrochemical and industrial markets
  • Transit and fire alarm systems
  • Building management systems and steel industries

Job Creation and Future Outlook

The expansion will create up to 54 new jobs, further supporting the local economy in Valparaiso. Lake Cable continues to invest in its facilities and workforce to meet increasing demand and strengthen its position in the U.S. cable manufacturing market.
