Leoni AG Expands Serbia Operations with New Kraljevo Plant
Leoni AG Kraljevo plant Serbia development marks a major expansion of the company’s manufacturing footprint in Eastern Europe. Leoni AG continues to grow its presence in Serbia with a new facility in Kraljevo, its fourth plant in the country. The company plans to begin production of wiring systems for Mercedes by the end of January.
Leoni AG Kraljevo Plant Serbia Investment and Production Plans
Leoni is investing €60 million in the Kraljevo facility through a phased development approach. The current phase includes 6,500 square meters of production space and employs around 150 engineers, technicians, and workers.
The company expects to complete the full site by the end of Q1 2020, expanding the plant to 45,000 square meters. By 2023, Leoni aims to reach full production capacity and employ approximately 5,000 workers at this location.

Growth of Leoni AG in Serbia
Leoni has steadily expanded its operations in Serbia since entering the market in 2009 with its first plant in Prokuplje. The company later opened facilities in Malosiste (2014) and Nis (2017). Each site focuses on manufacturing wiring systems for premium automotive brands.
The new Kraljevo facility represents the largest Leoni plant in Serbia and marks the first newly built factory in the city in over 30 years.
Employment and Economic Impact
Leoni has invested approximately €90 million in Serbia across facilities, equipment, and workforce training. The company currently employs around 6,000 people in the country.
Once the Kraljevo plant reaches full capacity, Leoni expects its Serbian workforce to grow to 10,000 employees, positioning the company as the largest manufacturing employer in Serbia.
Leoni also highlighted Serbia’s strong workforce quality, work ethic, and human capital potential, which continue to support its long-term growth strategy. Over the past decade, the company has contributed more than €52 million in taxes and social contributions to the country.
Expansion into Bulgaria
Leoni plans to expand further in Eastern Europe with a new plant in Pleven, Bulgaria. The company announced a €32 million investment that will create approximately 2,000 jobs. This facility will become Leoni’s first plant in Bulgaria and is expected to be fully operational by 2020.
