LS Cable & System Indonesia Power Cable Plant Overview
On April 1, 2022, LS Cable & System (LSCS)—the cable manufacturing arm of LS Group—officially opened the LS Cable & System Indonesia power cable plant. The new facility strengthens LSCS’s presence in Southeast Asia and supports growing demand for transmission and building cables across the region.
The plant, called LSAGI, operates as a joint venture between LS Cable & System and Artha Graha Network, Indonesia’s 10th‑largest conglomerate. LSCS holds a 75% stake, which gives the Korean company strategic control while it benefits from Artha Graha’s local market knowledge and relationships.
LS Cable & System Indonesia Power Cable Plant Location and Products
The LS Cable & System Indonesia power cable plant sits on a 64,000‑square‑meter site in the Artha Industrial Complex near Jakarta. From this location, the facility primarily produces overhead wires for power transmission and distribution, along with low‑voltage cables for buildings and industrial plants.
These product lines allow LSCS to support national grid projects, infrastructure builds, and commercial construction. At the same time, the plant improves local availability of high‑quality power cables and reduces reliance on imported products.
Local Strategy and Market Approach
LS Cable & System plans to expand in Indonesia by leveraging Artha Graha Network’s business experience and sales networks, which reach across sectors such as banking and hospitality. By combining global manufacturing expertise with local channels, LSCS can respond more effectively to customer needs.
Company leadership also notes that many countries now strengthen policies to protect domestic manufacturers. Because of this, LSCS intends to pursue different strategies for different markets, tailoring its approach to local regulations, customer expectations, and project pipelines.
Capital Relocation and Global Footprint
LS Cable & System expects a rebound in the cable market after the pandemic. One key driver is Indonesia’s planned relocation of its capital from Jakarta to a new site in Kalimantan on Borneo island, a $32 billion mega‑project that will require extensive transmission and distribution investment.
Globally, LSCS now operates 12 production facilities, including plants in the United States, Poland, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia. This network positions LS Cable & System to supply power cable solutions quickly and support major grid and infrastructure projects worldwide.
