LS Marine Solution wins first overseas submarine power cable contract in Taiwan

LS Marine Solution, a subsidiary of LS Cable & System, secured a $15.8 million contract to install submarine power cables for Taiwanโ€™s 294.5 MW offshore wind project, marking its first international installation deal and a strategic move in expanding global power grid capabilities.

LS Marine Solution Wins $15.8 Million Taiwan Offshore Wind Cable Contract

LS Cable & System Ltd., South Koreaโ€™s largest cable manufacturer, announced that its subsidiary LS Marine Solution Co. has secured a US$15.8 million contract to install submarine power cables for Taiwan Power Company (TPC). The project supports TPCโ€™s Offshore Wind Power Complex 2, a 294.5 MW development that will be completed by May 2026.

Expanding into Offshore Wind Projects

The deal marks the first overseas submarine cable project for LS Marine Solution. With this contract, the company strengthens its position in the global offshore wind supply chain. The team will manage the entire installation process to ensure reliable connections for Taiwanโ€™s growing renewable energy network.

Founded in 1995, LS Marine Solution was South Koreaโ€™s first company specializing in submarine cable construction. Formerly KT Submarine, the firm was acquired and rebranded by LS Cable & System in 2023. Since then, it has combined engineering and production capabilities to deliver streamlined cable solutions worldwide.

Strategic Growth in the Renewable Energy Market

LS Cable & System has previously supplied ultra-high-voltage submarine cables for Taiwanโ€™s first-phase offshore wind projects, providing crucial components for the countryโ€™s expanding clean energy grid. The new contract builds on that legacy, creating stronger synergy between the companyโ€™s cable manufacturing and installation operations.

This collaboration aligns with Taiwanโ€™s long-term plan to achieve 20.6 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035, an effort that continues to attract international partners and technology providers.

Advancing into Global Power Grids

LS Marine Solution CEO Kim Byung-ok expressed confidence in the projectโ€™s role as a launchpad for further global expansion.

โ€œBased on our technology and experience accumulated as Koreaโ€™s first-generation submarine cable construction company, we have successfully taken our first step into the overseas power grid market,โ€ Kim said. โ€œWe will continue expanding our global reach through projects like this in Taiwan.โ€

Through this milestone, LS Marine strengthens its position as a key player in the global offshore wind and submarine cable sectors, while reinforcing LS Cable & Systemโ€™s leadership in sustainable power transmission solutions.
