NAI expands interconnect manufacturing to Mexico

NAI, a designer and manufacturer ofย custom interconnect solutions, has opened aย new manufacturing plant in Mexicoย to support growing demand forย cable assemblies, harnesses, and box builds. New NAI plant inย Saltillo, Mexico

The newย 38,000โ€‘sqโ€‘ft NAI plant in Saltillo, Coahuilaย primarily supports existing and new customers in the surrounding region. The location reducesย logistics costs and lead timesย by placing production closer to customers. In addition, the Saltillo site gives NAI moreย manufacturing flexibilityย within Mexico.

Dual sourcingย and continuity of supply

NAIโ€™s new facility enablesย dual capacityย across multiple manufacturing locations in Mexico. Thisย dualโ€‘sourcing strategyย offers customers a strong alternative when they face disruptions, such as those seen during theย Covidโ€‘19 pandemic. The Saltillo site also hasย room to expand, which allows NAI to ramp up production as demand grows.

Products andย markets served

The Saltillo plant will produce interconnect devices for NAIโ€™s core markets inย industrial, medical, and telecomย applications. Cable assemblies typically includeย fiber optic and/or copper cablesย and may also includeย power cables. NAI attaches connectors at one or both ends to create complete assemblies thatย interconnect different types of equipment and instruments.

Productionย ramp-up in Saltillo

NAI plans to transferย several hundred SKUsย into the Saltillo plant for immediate production. This move supports aย quick rampโ€‘up of manufacturingย at the new site. Operations are scheduled to begin inย February 2021, giving customers another strategicย NAI production option in Mexico.
