Nexans to supply West African project

Nexans Secures Subsea Umbilicals Contract for West African Gas Project

Theย Nexans subsea umbilicals contractย strengthens the companyโ€™s role in offshore energy.ย Nexansย (https://www.nexans.com) has secured an agreement withย McDermott Marine Construction Limitedย (https://www.mcdermott.com). The deal covers aboutย 100 km of subsea umbilicals and accessoriesย for a West African project.

Nexans Subsea Umbilicals Contract Supports GTA Project

The contract supports theย Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) natural gas project, located aboutย 120 km offshoreย betweenย Mauritania and Senegal.

Nexans will handleย engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and testing. In addition, the company will produceย electrical cables and fiber opticsย at itsย Rognan, Norway facility. Meanwhile, itsย Halden plantย will develop, assemble, and test the umbilicals.

Advanced Offshore Infrastructure and Capabilities

The GTA field operates at aย water depth of 2,850 meters. Therefore, it requires advanced engineering and durable systems. The project will connect subsea infrastructure acrossย 70 kmย to aย floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

From there, gas will travel anotherย 35 kmย to aย nearshore LNG hub, where operators will process and load it onto carriers.

Strategic Role in Global Energy Projects

This project highlights Nexansโ€™ strength inย deepwater subsea solutionsย andย offshore infrastructure. It also supports large-scaleย LNG developments, reinforcing the companyโ€™s position in global energy markets.
