Nexans Wins Submarine Cable Contract for Marjan Offshore Project
Nexans has secured a major contract through its Nexans Marjan offshore cable project. The company will supply 80 kilometers of 230 kV submarine cable for an offshore development in the Arabian Gulf.
Project Scope and Manufacturing
Nexans will manufacture composite submarine cables at its Halden, Norway facility. In addition, the company will produce fiber optic cables at its Rognan plant.

Nexans Marjan Offshore Cable Project and Expansion Plans
Meanwhile, McDermott awarded the contract as part of its work with Saudi Aramco. The project supports the expansion of the Marjan oil and gas field, one of the region’s largest offshore assets.
Saudi Aramco launched the Marjan Crude Increment Program (MIP) in 2017. The company aims to increase production to 800,000 barrels per day. At the same time, it will maintain total capacity at 12 million barrels per day.
Major Offshore Infrastructure Development
The expansion includes key upgrades. For example, the project will add a gas-oil separation plant and 24 offshore platforms.
In addition, Saudi Aramco awarded about $18 billion in EPC contracts. These contracts support both the Marjan and Berri offshore fields.
