Nexans Expands Cable Operations in Latin America

Earlier this year, Mexico-based Xignux SA completed the sale ofย Centelsaย toย Nexans, marking a key step in the Nexans Centelsa acquisition. Centelsa produces cables for the energy and communications sectors and has served the market since 1955.

The company operates three manufacturing plants in Cali, Colombia, and a distribution center in Ecuador. These locations now complement Nexansโ€™ industrial plants in Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Brazil, giving the group a stronger footprint across Latin America.

Centelsaโ€™s Legacy and Future Within Nexans

Centelsa adds decades of technical expertise, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and long-standing customer relationships to Nexansโ€™ regional portfolio. With this combination, Nexans can support more infrastructure, energy, and communications projects throughout Latin America.

โ€œIn our history together with the Centelsa team we have achieved great achievements. I am convinced that, together with Nexans, the Centelsa team will continue to be a key player in the industry, offering growth to its collaborators and clients,โ€ saidย Sergio Valdรฉs, general director of Viakable, a Xignux company.

Supporting Electrification and Growth in the Region

By integrating Centelsaโ€™s operations, Nexans strengthens its strategy to lead electrification and modernize networks in Latin America. The expanded manufacturing base and distribution reach position the group to respond faster to regional demand and support long-term economic and energy development.
