Prysmian Group Wins Submarine Cable Contract in Massachusetts

The Prysmian Group submarine cable contract represents a major infrastructure development in the United States. Prysmian Group secured the project from Caldwell Marine International LLC, a contractor known for submarine utility operations, to deliver advanced submarine cable systems.

Prysmian Group Submarine Cable Contract Project Details

The project includes the design, manufacturing, supply, and testing of 6 km of 115kV submarine cable. The system uses 3 x 630 sq mm cables with XLPE insulation, along with all required accessories to connect Deer Island to mainland Massachusetts.

Prysmian will also manage the land cable portion, supplying and installing 8 km of 115kV land cables and related components.

Manufacturing and Delivery Timeline

Prysmian will produce the submarine cables at its Centre of Excellence in Arco Felice, Italy. Its facility in Abbeville, South Carolina, will manufacture the land cables. The company plans to complete the project by early 2019, ensuring efficient and timely delivery.

Strengthening U.S. Market Position

This contract supports Prysmian’s strategy to expand its presence in the U.S. interconnection market, especially following its acquisition of General Cable.
