Prysmian Norte Conectado Deployment in Northern Brazil
Prysmian Groupย will supply 770 km of submarine telecom cables for theย Norte Conectadoย project in Brazil. The contract, awarded byย RNP โ Rede Nacional de Ensino e Pesquisa, aims to connect Macapรก to Santarรฉm and Alenquer in the northern Amazon region and dramatically improve regional digital infrastructure.
This phase of Norte Conectado will strengthen high-capacity connectivity for communities and institutions across the Amazon basin. It also creates a backbone that can scale to support future regional and cross-border links.
Advanced MINISUB Cables to Serve Millions of Households
Prysmian will deliver its provenย MINISUB repeaterless optical submarine cables, featuring a high fiber count designed for robust, long-distance performance. The company will deploy these cables across four separate links to ensure redundancy and reliability. This infrastructure will support data traffic to an estimated 9.2 million households and significantly enhance internet access in remote areas.
The project will extend connectivity toย 59 municipalities in northern Brazil, and it also opens opportunities to further expand the network toward other Amazonian countries. Prysmian will manufacture the cables at its facility inย Nordenham, Germany, with deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2021.
