Southwire Florence Alabama Plant Expansion Increases Production Capacity

Southwire Company, LLCย announced a majorย expansion of its Florence, Alabama campusย as part of its ongoing modernization strategy. Theย Southwire Florence Alabama plant expansionย will nearly double the facilityโ€™s size and significantly increase production capacity to better meet growing market demand.

Expanding Facilities and Creating Jobs

The company plans to addย 340,000 square feetย of new space to its existingย 300,000-square-foot building, which was acquired from Essex in 2006. The expanded facility will house new production equipment and createย approximately 120 new jobs.

Construction beginsย this quarterย and is scheduled for completion inย 2025. When finished, the updated facility will strengthen Southwireโ€™s ability to support bothย commercial and residential building wireย production.

Investing in People and Production Efficiency

The project also includesย renovating existing spacesย to improve employee well-being and teamwork. New amenities will feature upgraded locker rooms, expanded training areas, and outdoor spaces for recreation and team activities.

According toย Norman Adkins,ย President of Wire and Cable and COO, the project supports Southwireโ€™s long-term sustainability goals. โ€œSouthwire is committed to being an employer of choice and remaining generationally sustainable for the next 100 years and beyond,โ€ Adkins said.

The investment is part of Southwireโ€™s larger commitment to enhance its U.S. operations.ย Rich Stinson,ย President and CEO, emphasized that the company is investingย more than $1โ€ฏbillionย to integrate new equipment, systems, and technology. These upgrades aim to increase efficiency, boost competitiveness, and position Southwire for continued growth in the wire and cable industry.
