High-Capacity Power Infrastructure
The project required a 34-kilometer ultra-high voltage power cable, designed for a 154 kV transmission line. This advanced infrastructure supports efficient power transmission and sets a new benchmark for large-scale wind energy systems in Japan.
Wind Farm Capacity and Location
Wind Farm Tsugaru operates in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture, and delivers a total output of 121,600 kW. This capacity makes it the largest onshore wind farm in Japan.

Collaborative Engineering and Construction
Sumitomo Electric led the design, manufacturing, and installation of critical electrical systems. The company worked closely with group partners Nissin Electric Co., Ltd. (https://www.nissin.jp) and Sumitomo Densetsu Co., Ltd. (https://www.sei.co.jp/en/company/group/sumitomo-densetsu/).
Together, the team delivered key components, including underground transmission and distribution lines and substation equipment. Construction took approximately two and a half years to complete.
