WB Alloys, a leading U.K.-based wire alloy manufacturer, will open its first U.S. production facility in Danville, Virginia. The project marks a major step in the companyโs global expansion.
The Virginia facility represents a $6.6 million investment and will create 30 new jobs. The site brings WB Alloys closer to U.S. customers and strengthens its presence in the advanced manufacturing sector.
Founded in 1974, WB Alloys produces alloy wire for welding, designs weld monitoring systems, and develops equipment for additive manufacturing. The company operates seven facilities in the U.K. and one in the Middle East. The Virginia factory will become its first American location.
Company executives said the U.S. expansion will support the defense industry, including the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense. Both sectors are investing heavily in domestic manufacturing capacity.
โOpening our first U.S. facility is a strategic milestone,โ said Richie Barker, company spokesperson. โThe market is expanding quickly, and this move allows us to serve American customers more efficiently while supporting defense priorities.โ
Proximity to innovation partners helped shape the companyโs choice of location. Nearby organizationsโFasTech, Phillips Corporation, and the Institute for Advanced Learning and Researchโwill strengthen collaboration and boost production efficiencies. WB Alloys already supplies FasTech with alloy wire for 3D printing and precision machining, ensuring an established customer base in the region.
By localizing production, WB Alloys expects to reduce lead times and improve U.S. supply chain resilience. Almost all the new jobs created will go to American workers. If demand continues to grow, the company plans to expand operations further in the coming years.
This new U.S. facility positions WB Alloys to advance American manufacturing capabilities while reinforcing global partnerships in defense and advanced technology industries.
