The Wire Association International (WAI) continues to expand its WAI training program for wire and cable industry professionals. The initiative delivers structured, accessible learning designed to strengthen technical knowledge and workforce development.
WAI Training Program Introduces Interactive Learning Modules
WAI has developed a series of five training modules, each built with short, focused videos that run under five minutes. These videos keep learners engaged while delivering clear, practical insights.
Each module includes knowledge checks throughout the lessons. After completing a module, participants earn a certificate of completion, reinforcing skill development and progress tracking.
Industry Experts Drive Content Development
WAI collaborates with a professional motion designer who specializes in manufacturing explainer videos. The content combines real shop floor footage with animated visuals to simplify complex processes.
A professional voiceover artist delivers narration to ensure clarity and consistency. In addition, primary and secondary subject matter experts guide each module to maintain accuracy and industry relevance.
WAI previewed the first four videos of the Ferrous Metallurgy module at Wire Expo 2024, giving attendees an early look at the program’s capabilities.
Learning Management System Supports Program Growth
At the same time, WAI continues to evaluate learning management systems (LMS) to host and scale the training program. The WAI Education Committee has reviewed several options and passed recommendations to the Executive Committee.
WAI aims to finalize the LMS selection by July 2024. Key features under consideration include:
- Group enrollment and progress tracking
- White-label access for large organizations
- Custom content hosting capabilities
- User-friendly interface with Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Scalability for future program expansion
Upcoming Module Releases and Timeline
WAI expects to complete the Ferrous Metallurgy module by late summer or early fall 2024, alongside a soft launch of the LMS platform.
The second module, Single Layer Extrusion Overview, is scheduled for release by the end of 2024, continuing the program’s rollout.
