The WAI New England Chapter welcomed 154 golfers to Tunxis Country Club Sept. 14 for its 32nd annual golf tournament, featuring perfect weather, friendly competition and an Ulbrich team victory.

The WAI New England Chapter returned to Tunxis Country Club on Sept. 14, 2026, for its 32nd annual golf tournament, where 154 golfers were treated to nearly perfect late-summer weather.

The day began with a tee-off breakfast sponsored by James Monroe Wire & Cable Corp., a putting contest sponsored by Wire & Plastic Machinery Corp., and use of the driving range sponsored by Fluorogistx.

While the breakfast and driving range remained popular traditions, this year’s putting contest featured a new twist. Bottles of liquor were placed across the putting green, and golfers who successfully struck a bottle with their putt won it. The format added some extra fun to the morning, with several participants walking away with a prize before tournament play had even begun.

During the tournament, golfers could stop at snack shacks located around the course for lunch sponsored by Carris Reels and Teknikor. Combined with the pleasant weather, friendly competition and brisk pace of play, the conditions made for an enjoyable day on the course.

Following play, participants gathered at the pavilion for a reception, dinner, raffle and awards ceremony. In addition to competing for the tournament trophy, which remains with the winning team until the following year’s event, attendees had opportunities to win a variety of raffle prizes. The grand prize was a set of TaylorMade irons valued at $800.

Awards were presented for both courses, although only the tournament’s overall top team earned possession of the trophy.

Taking the overall title was the Ulbrich team of Mike Geiger, Dan Day, Don Lynch and Jon Ulbrich, who finished 13 under par on the white course.

First place on the green course went to Little Falls Alloys’ Jeff Lawrence and Grace Loma, joined by Jake Pelletier of Bridgeport Insulated Wire and Jake French of Elektrisola. The team finished 12 under par.

Second place on the white course went to the Web Industries team of Jim Evans, Trever Lucas, John Madej and Jordan Pihl, who finished 10 under par.

On the green course, second place went to Lloyd & Bouvier’s Mike Tucker, Darren Tucler and Tamar Kuipers, along with Cynthia Chen Tomas of Wardwell Braider. The team finished 9 under par.

Third place on the white course went to Peter Leary and Dave Macedo of Guill Tool & Engineering, Sean Donnelly of Kinrei of America and Paul Douwes of Vandor Corporation, who finished 8 under par.

Taking third place on the green course was the Fisk Alloy team of Glenn Davidson and Bill Yankovich, joined by Matt Hornick and Martin Daniel of Judd Wire. The team finished 6 under par.
