Rise Light & Power Delaware River Partners Project Boosts Offshore Wind Growth
Rise Light & Powerย andย Delaware River Partners LLC (DRP)ย plan to build aย submarine cable manufacturing facilityย inย Greenwich Township, New Jersey. Theย Rise Light & Power Delaware River Partners projectย will attract a global cable manufacturer to construct and operate the plant. This partnership will strengthen New Jerseyโs offshore wind industry and create new renewable energy jobs.
Together, the companies aim to develop key infrastructure that supports Americaโs clean energy transition.
Advancing Offshore Wind Manufacturing
As part of theย Outerbridge Renewable Connector Project, Rise Light & Power will investย millions of dollarsย to prepare aย 30-acre siteย at theย Repauno Port & Rail Terminal. The site includesย dock access, making it ideal for heavy equipment and subsea cable transport.
Once theย New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU)ย approves the project, the companies will begin permitting and site work. Their goal is to make the area shovel-ready as soon as possible. The facility will produce two types of cables:ย inter-array cables, which connect wind turbines, andย export cables, which link offshore substations to the onshore grid.
This investment will help supply offshore projects across the East Coast and advance local energy infrastructure.
Supporting Clean Energy and Job Creation
โThis project confirms New Jerseyโs leadership in the offshore wind sector,โ saidย Clint Plummer, CEO of Rise Light & Power. โThrough the Outerbridge Renewable Connector, weโll repurpose existing infrastructure, create stable jobs, and strengthen the stateโs clean energy network.โ
Hank Alexander, CEO of Delaware River Partners, noted, โThe Repauno Port & Rail Terminal is perfectly located on the Delaware River. Its access and logistics capacity allow us to meet manufacturing and delivery needs for offshore wind projects efficiently.โ
Strengthening Americaโs Renewable Manufacturing Network
Theย Rise Light & Power Delaware River Partners projectย will position New Jersey as a major hub for U.S. offshore wind cable manufacturing. It will also spur new investments, attract international expertise, and expand green energy production.
Meanwhile, theย Prysmian Groupย recently revealed plans for aย $200 million cable plantย inย Brayton Point, Massachusetts, showing how the entire U.S. energy supply chain is accelerating its renewable transition.
