ABBย will build the newย ABB Albuquerque cable products facilityย on its existing 40โacre campus, near its current plant that employs about 450 people. The new site will add 55 jobs when it starts operating, which ABB expects to happen in 2024.
Ralph Donati, executive vice president and general manager for ABBโs Installation Products Division in the U.S. and Latin America, described the project as more than a simple expansion. He said ABB will upgrade its manufacturing capabilities in Albuquerque with a greenfield plant that uses advanced processing, machine manufacturing, and robotics to create a โfactory for the future.โ
Theย ABB Albuquerque cable products facilityย will double the companyโs local production of cable products used by electric utilities, which remain the primary items produced at the site. With this added capacity, ABB will better support grid modernization, undergrounding projects, and reliability improvements across the U.S. power network.
By combining automation, robotics, and modern manufacturing practices, ABB aims to improve efficiency, shorten lead times, and deliver more cable solutions to meet growing electrification and resilience demands.
