Introducing the AMX3 “Tikal” Cable
The América Móvil Telxius subsea cable, known as “AMX3” by América Móvil and “Tikal” by Telxius, will link Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, to Boca Raton, Florida. It may also include a landing point in Cancun, Mexico. Designed for performance, the Tikal system will start with a capacity of 190 Tbps, serving one of the most important routes in the Caribbean. The companies expect the cable to go live in 2025.
América Móvil Telxius Subsea Cable Designed for Flexibility
The supply contract with ASN is already active. It includes options to expand capacity and add branching units to reach new destinations. This flexibility allows the companies to scale the network quickly as bandwidth requirements continue to rise across the Americas.
Strengthening América Móvil’s Network Leadership
For América Móvil, the Tikal project reinforces its robust subsea infrastructure. The company’s network already spans more than 197,000 kilometers, including the AMX‑1 cable that stretches 18,300 kilometers and connects the U.S. to Central and South America through 13 landing points. With the addition of the Tikal system, América Móvil continues to lead in connectivity and digital transformation across the region.
