Belden to expand fiber production, gets visit from NY governor bearing grants

Theย Belden Syracuse Expansionย received a major boost asย New York Governor Kathy Hochulย visited the companyโ€™sย Belden Inc.ย plant inย Syracuse, New Yorkย to announceย $2.4 million in incentives and tax credits. The investment supports Beldenโ€™s plan to expandย optical fiber production, create new jobs, and strengthen New Yorkโ€™s broadband infrastructure.

Theย Syracuse facilityย serves asย Beldenโ€™s main Broadband Solutions site, operating under theย PPC Broadbandย brand. During her visit, Governor Hochul spotlighted major funding initiatives featured in herย 2024 New York State Budgetย and reaffirmed her administrationโ€™s commitment toย high-tech manufacturing and workforce development.

Belden will receive aย $1.2 million grantย fromย Empire State Developmentย and aย $1.2 million Excelsior Jobs tax credit. Together, these incentives will help the company increase optical fiber output, support infrastructure projects, and expand employment opportunities in the region.

โ€œNew Yorkโ€™s story is one of transformation and reinvention,โ€ Governor Hochul said, praising Beldenโ€™s leadership in advanced manufacturing. She also highlighted the companyโ€™s role in driving both local and global innovation.

Dr. Ashish Chand, Belden President and CEO, welcomed the Governorโ€™s message. โ€œWe are honored to host Governor Hochul at our Syracuse facility,โ€ he said. โ€œHer vision of progress mirrors Beldenโ€™s commitment to ingenuity and innovation across our operations in New York and around the world.โ€

Belden was amongย 19 companies statewideย to receive part of aย $15 million investmentย through theย Regional Economic Development Council Initiative. The program encourages collaboration between private industry and government agencies toย strengthen local economiesย andย create sustainable jobs.

Furthermore, Beldenโ€™s continued growth in New York demonstrates its long-term investment in local talent and next-generation broadband technology. As a result, the companyโ€™s expansion will help accelerate connectivity improvements throughout upstate communities.
