CommScope to expand its production of fiber-optic cable at two plants in the U.S.

CommScopeย plans aย CommScope fiber expansionย to keep pace with the accelerated rollout of broadband internet across the U.S. The company will invest $47 million in two manufacturing facilities in North Carolina. Over the next five years, these plants will add at least 250 new jobs and help bring more highโ€‘speed connections to communities nationwide.

The investment includes new production lines for CommScopeโ€™s HeliARC fiberโ€‘optic cable. This cable is smaller and lighter, so crews can install it faster and at lower cost. Because of that, it works especially well in rural areas where long routes and difficult terrain can slow traditional deployments.

CEO and President Chuck Treadway said theย CommScope fiber expansionย strongly supports the companyโ€™s โ€œBroadband for Everyoneโ€ program. CommScope will deliver more costโ€‘effective, easierโ€‘toโ€‘deploy fiberโ€‘optic cable, create new U.S. manufacturing jobs, and strengthen the domestic broadband supply chain. In turn, service providers can accelerate fiber rollout and better serve underserved and rural communities.
