Dutch company to establish a new cable storage area in Rhode Island

Wind and Waterson Terminals Partner for U.S. Offshore Wind Growth

Wind, a Dutch subsea cable specialist, has teamed up with Waterson Terminal Services to establish the Wind Waterson Terminals Rhode Island cable yard. This strategic collaboration marks Windโ€™s official expansion into the U.S. market and strengthens its role in Americaโ€™s growing offshore wind supply chain.

Located at ProvPort in Providence, the new facility will be fully operational by the start of the third quarter. It will support cable handling, storage, and logistics for offshore wind projects while boosting local port activity. The site gives Wind a key presence in the U.S. renewable energy infrastructure.

Future Expansion and Coordinated Management

As demand rises, both companies plan to expand operations beyond Providence into other Waterson Terminal locations. The facility will oversee all cable and accessory storage, logistics coordination, and inventory management. Meanwhile, project management will continue from Windโ€™s headquarters in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, ensuring smooth international operations.

Chris Waterson, general manager of Waterson Terminal Services, said the partnership highlights their shared commitment to efficient, sustainable port logistics and support for the nationโ€™s cleanโ€‘energy transition.

Global Experience in Offshore Wind Logistics

Wind brings extensive experience in subsea cable management through major international projects. For instance, Prysmian Group chose Wind to transport and store a ยฑ150 km array cable for the Hollandse Kust Zuid Offshore Wind Farm. That project strengthened Windโ€™s reputation for reliable cable handling in largeโ€‘scale offshore energy developments.

The Wind Waterson Terminals Rhode Island cable yard now positions both companies to enhance the U.S. offshore wind network and contribute to a more sustainable future.
