Hellenic Cables Powers Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm

Hellenic Cables, part ofย Cenergy Holdings, has secured a majorย EPCI contractย to supply cables for theย Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm Projectย in the Baltic Sea. The agreement strengthens Germanyโ€™s renewable power grid and supports the regionโ€™s clean energy transition.

Awarded byย 50Hertz Offshore GmbH, the โ‚ฌ400 million contract includes design, production, installation, and commissioning of two high-voltage cable systems.

Connecting Offshore Energy to Germanyโ€™s Grid

Hellenic Cables will deliver two 220 kV export cable systems that link theย 927 MW Gennaker Offshore Wind Farmย to a new substation nearย Gnewitzย in northern Germany.

The project covers about 80 km of submarine cable and 210 km of underground cable, along with accessories and testing. The company expects to finish and deliver the project by 2027.

Expanding Production with Sustainable Practices

Production will take place at Hellenic Cablesโ€™ย Corinth facilityย for the submarine cables and itsย Thiva plantย for the underground section. Both facilities use efficient manufacturing methods that reduce waste and environmental impact.

This large-scale project will boost Germanyโ€™s grid strength and reliability. At the same time, it supports Europeโ€™s clean energy transition and its goal of achieving more sustainable power systems.
