Hellenic Cables to provide cable that will be used to connect Indonesian islands

Project Overview

On April 3, 2022,ย Hellenic Cables, a business ofย Cenergy Holdings, announced theย Hellenic Cables HEDNO submarine cable project. Under this turnkey contract, the company will supply aboutย 19 km of submarine cableย to support several new power interconnections across Greece.

The agreement comes fromย HEDNO, the regulated electricity distributor for the entire country. In addition, the contract coversย cable accessories, installation, and all works needed to connect the submarine links toย HEDNOโ€™s onshore network, so the scope runs from factory to grid.

Turnkey Scope and Fulgorโ€™s Role

Beyond supplying cable, the project also requires complete execution of the connection works. This includes installing joints, terminations, and related accessories, as well as completing the interface with HEDNOโ€™s land network.

HEDNO signed the contract withย Fulgor, aย 100% subsidiary of Hellenic Cables. Through this structure, Hellenic Cables and Fulgor manage design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning as a single integrated team, which in turn simplifies coordination and accountability.

Manufacturing in Corinth and Project Timeline

Hellenic Cables will manufacture all submarine cables at itsย Corinth, Greece plant, a core facility for highโ€‘performance power products. From there, the project team will handle logistics, marine installation, and final connection to HEDNOโ€™s distribution grid.

Project plans call forย cable production and installation to finish by May 2023. With this timeline, HEDNO can continue its broader program to reinforce island and coastal networks and, consequently, strengthen supply reliability for local communities.

Supporting Greeceโ€™s Island Grid Modernization

As Greeceโ€™s sole active electricity distributor,ย HEDNOย leads efforts toย modernize distribution gridsย and secure power for the countryโ€™s islands. By partnering with Hellenic Cables and Fulgor, HEDNO gains a supplier with deep experience in submarine cable systems and turnkey grid projects.

Alexis Alexiou, CEO ofย Cenergy Holdingsย andย Hellenic Cables, said the company is pleased to support HEDNOโ€™s development plans. He added that the project will help ensureย uninterrupted and reliable powerย for Greek islands and, moreover, reaffirm Hellenic Cablesโ€™ role in Greeceโ€™s energy transition.
