Hellenic Cables to supply cable for 2 of Polandโ€™s first offshore wind farms

Hellenic Cables Expands Offshore Wind Presence

Hellenic Cablesย has won a major contract to design, manufacture, transport, and installย four 220 kV HVAC export cables. These cables will connect theย Baltyk IIย andย Baltyk IIIย offshore wind farms in theย Polish Baltic Seaย to the mainland power grid.

Connecting Baltyk II and III to Polandโ€™s Energy Network

Theย Baltyk IIย andย Baltyk IIIย projects come from a joint venture betweenย Equinorย andย Polenergia. Each wind farm will produceย 720 MWย of clean energy. Together, they will help power thousands of Polish homes and businesses.

In total, the two projects will link to the shore throughย four submarine HVAC cablesย stretchingย 256 km. These cables will deliver renewable energy directly from the Baltic Sea to Polandโ€™s onshore grid.

Driving Polandโ€™s Renewable Energy Transition

Baltyk II and Baltyk III will rank among Polandโ€™s first large-scale offshore wind farms. They represent a milestone in the countryโ€™s effort to grow its renewable power capacity and reduce carbon emissions.

Hellenic Cablesย is partnering with theย Jan De Nul Group, which will handle the offshore installation. Together, the companies aim to strengthen Polandโ€™s energy infrastructure and advance the shift toward sustainable electricity.

Partnership Recognition and Industry Expertise

โ€œWe are proud that Equinor and Polenergia chose us for these important projects,โ€ saidย Wouter Vermeersch, Manager Offshore Cables at Jan De Nul Group. โ€œTheir trust confirms the strong offshore capabilities of both Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables.โ€

Project Manufacturing and Timeline

The consortium plans to complete the grid connection for both wind farms byย 2026. Meanwhile, Hellenic Cables will design and produce theย 220 kV HVAC export cablesย at its state-of-the-art facility inย Corinth, Greece.

In addition, the project highlights the companyโ€™s continued growth in Europeโ€™s offshore wind sector. As a result, Hellenic Cables reinforces its role as a leading global supplier supporting the renewable energy transition.
