Hengtong Wins Koh Tao 33 kV Submarine Cable Project
Hengtong Groupย has secured a contract from theย Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA)ย to supply cable for the Koh Tao 33 kV Submarine Cable Project in Thailand. This contract ranks among Thailandโs largest submarine cable projects and shows the countryโs ongoing investment in modern power infrastructure.
The route will run from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao over 45 circuit km. On the island, the system will span 21 km and use two automatic voltage regulators to stabilize and improve supply quality.
Reliable Clean Power for Koh Tao
The new subsea link will deliver continuous, reliable, and clean electricity to Koh Tao. As a result, local residents will gain a more stable grid, while tourism and the islandโs economy will also benefit.
โIt is another breakthrough in the market of Southeast Asia. We are committed to long-term cooperation with local partners and clients,โ said Joe Sheng, vice president of Hengtong in the APEC region.
Hengtong Backs Dubaiโs 900 MW PV Project
Hengtong has also supplied 275 km of high-voltage cable for the 900 MW Dubai PV Project Phase B. This development forms part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of the worldโs largest and most advanced photovoltaic power complexes.
The project sits in Dubaiโs Maktoum Solar Park and includes phases A, B, and C with a targeted installed capacity of 1,050 MW. Developers officially launched this stage in July 2020 and use advanced solar generation technology to raise efficiency and output.
Supporting the UAEโs Energy Transition
After completion, the Dubai PV project will supply about 2.268 billion kWh of electricity each year. This power will serve around 270,000 buildings and cut carbon emissions by roughly 1.1 million tons annually. Consequently, the project will become a flagship example of large-scale solar deployment in the UAE.
