Kinderhook Partners reports that it has acquired Cameron Wire & Cable

Kinderhook Buys Cameron Wire & Cable to Grow Wire and Cable Platform

On May 7, 2021,ย Kinderhook Industries, LLCย announced thatย Kinderhook buys Cameron Wire & Cable, a leading U.S. distributor of commercial and industrial wire, cable and related accessories. Founded in 2010 and headquartered inย Little Rock, Arkansas,ย Cameron Wire & Cableย serves customers nationwide through a strategic network of distribution centers.

Company founderย Robert Cameron, who built the business and has served as president, will stay actively involved and join the companyโ€™s board of directors. Kinderhook views his continued role as key to sustaining Cameronโ€™s growth and customer relationships while the company enters its next expansion phase.

Cameronโ€™s Products, Markets and Value-Added Services

Cameron Wire & Cable sellsย Cameronโ€‘branded copper, aluminum and specialty wire and cable productsย into several important end markets. These includeย renewable energy,ย building wire,ย industrialย applications andย utilityย customers. The company pairs this product range with a strong focus on service and customization.

In addition, Cameron offers valueโ€‘added services such asย paralleling, cutting, kitting, harness assembly and custom engineered productsย for unique applications. By combining inventory, engineering support and logistics, Cameron helps customers reduce handling time, simplify installation and tailor cable solutions to specific project needs.

Transaction Structure and Expanded Leadership Team

The parties did not disclose the purchase price. However, Kinderhook Managing Directorย Paul Cifelliย noted that Robert Cameron willย retain a significant minority stakeย in the business. This structure aligns the founderโ€™s longโ€‘term interests with Kinderhookโ€™s growth plans and keeps his entrepreneurial perspective at the center of the strategy.

Kinderhook will also add two operating partners to Cameron Wire & Cableโ€™s management and board:ย Ed Flynn, former CEO of International Wire Group, andย Craig York, CEO of Kinderhook portfolio companyย Copperweld. Together, Flynn and York bring more thanย 40 years of wire and cable industry experience, which will support operational improvements and strategic initiatives.

Growth Strategy and Add-On Acquisition Plans

Robert Cameron sees the partnership with Kinderhook as a way to accelerate growth in both core and adjacent verticals. He highlighted the chance to pursueย complementary addโ€‘on acquisitionsย that expand Cameronโ€™s footprint, product offering andย valueโ€‘added capabilitiesย even further.

Cifelli praised Cameronโ€™s leadership in building a strong franchise in just over a decade. He stated that Kinderhook plans to help the company broaden its product mix, deepen its service offerings and enter additional end markets. In his view,ย Cameron Wire & Cableย now becomes a key part of Kinderhookโ€™sย rapidly growing wire and cable platform.
