LS Cable & System reports multiple project orders connecting North Sea to Germany

LS Cable & System TenneT HVDC Contract Secures Multiโ€‘Year Work

LS Cable & Systemย (lscns.com) in South Korea has signed a major contract withย TenneT Offshoreย to supply highโ€‘voltage direct current (HVDC) cables worth aboutย 1.5 trillion won (around $1.2 billion). This deal strengthens the companyโ€™s position in Europeโ€™s fastโ€‘growing offshore wind grid market.

Consortium to Connect North Sea Wind to Germany

LS Cable & System formed a consortium with Belgian construction firmsย Jan De Nulย (jandenul.com) andย Denysย (denys.com). Together, they will deliverย four grid connection projectsย that linkย North Sea offshore windย toย Germany.

Underย two contracts, LS Cable & System will supplyย submarine and underground HVDC cables, with deliveries starting inย 2026. In addition, theย other two projectsย should follow, with awards expected sequentially throughย 2026, creating a strong multiโ€‘year pipeline.

Part of 65 GW North Sea Offshore Wind Buildโ€‘Out

These projects form part of aย 2022 agreementย amongย Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germanyย to installย 65 gigawatts (GW)ย of offshore wind capacity byย 2030. As part of this plan,ย TenneTย will help build grid connections designed to deliverย green wind energy to up to 35 million homes.

By providing HVDC cable systems for these links, LS Cable & System helps move large volumes of offshore wind power into mainland grids and supports Europeโ€™s wider energy transition.

LS Cable & Systemโ€™s Role in the HVDC Market

An LS Cable & System official noted that global power grid projects continue to grow. However,ย HVDC cable systemsย still requireย large investmentsย andย advanced technical expertise. Therefore, only aย small group of global cable manufacturers, including LS Cable & System, currently supplies most of this specialized market.

Theย LS Cable & System TenneT HVDC contractย further reinforces the companyโ€™s leadership in HVDC technology and expands its presence in strategic European offshore wind and transmission projects.
