LS Cable & System USA Invests $50M in Tarboro Expansion to Increase Medium-Voltage Capacity

LS Cable & System USA, Inc., a U.S.-based subsidiary of LS Cable & System Ltd., announced a $50 million investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Tarboro, North Carolina, reinforcing its commitment to onshoring advanced manufacturing, strengthening domestic supply chains, and supporting the nation’s energy infrastructure.

LS Cable & System USA, Inc., the American subsidiary of LS Cable & System Ltd., has recently declared a substantial investment of $50 million to augment its manufacturing facility located in Tarboro, North Carolina. This move underscores the company’s dedication to bolstering advanced manufacturing on American soil, fortifying domestic supply chains, and contributing to the nation’s energy infrastructure.

The expansion will incorporate two Continuous Catenary Vulcanization production lines at the Tarboro plant, thereby significantly amplifying the manufacturing capacity for medium-voltage power distribution cables. These additional lines are strategically designed to cater to the escalating demand from electric utilities, renewable energy projects, data centers, and industrial customers across North America. The project is also set to boost the total employment at the facility, increasing the workforce from 250 to 335.

State and federal officials have underscored the project’s pivotal role in fortifying North Carolina’s advanced manufacturing sector and fostering rural economic development in Edgecombe County. The state’s robust manufacturing workforce and conducive business environment were highlighted as crucial factors behind the company’s ongoing investment in Tarboro.

This expansion in Tarboro is the latest in a series of North American investments by LS Cable & System and its subsidiaries. In April 2025, LS GreenLink USA initiated Phase 1 of a 750,000-square-foot advanced cable manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. This included a 660-foot Vertical Continuous Vulcanization tower and a dedicated pier to support high-voltage direct current submarine power cable production, generating over 330 jobs. In December 2025, LS C&S announced an additional investment in Chesapeake, marking the largest capital investment in the Hampton Roads region’s history. This is expected to create approximately 430 jobs while expanding copper recycling, magnet wire manufacturing, and rare-earth magnet production capabilities.

In January 2026, LS Cable & System USA announced a logistics center in La Porte, Texas, to support its burgeoning busduct business across North America. That same month, LS Cable & System Mexico, S.A. de C.V. announced a new investment in Querétaro, Mexico, to expand busduct production capacity driven by AI data center and large-scale power infrastructure demand, as well as new automotive cable production lines to support both internal combustion and electric vehicle platforms.

The company stated that the expansion of the Tarboro facility will enhance operational efficiency, strengthen domestic supply chains, and further establish LS Cable & System USA as a leading supplier of medium-voltage power cables in the U.S. market. LS Cable & System Ltd. plans to continue investing across North America throughout 2026 as electrification, energy transition, and grid modernization accelerate.

Established in 1962, LS Cable & System Ltd. is a global manufacturer of power and communication cable solutions, employing over 6,500 people and operating more than 40 subsidiaries across 17 countries.
