Marlin Steel Madsen Wire Acquisition Accelerates US Manufacturing

Marlin Steelย (visit Marlin Steel) completed theย Marlin Steel Madsen Wire acquisition, purchasing the assets of Indianaโ€‘basedย Madsen Wire, a wire products manufacturer founded in 1938. The deal strengthens Marlin Steelโ€™s wire product capabilities and supports its strategy to grow U.S. manufacturing.

Madsen Wire, headquartered inย Orland, Indiana, produces security partitions for fleet vehicles and ranks among the largest manufacturers of wire mesh, wire grid, wire mats and forms, and refrigerator shelves. Marlin presidentย Drew Greenblatt, who now also leads Madsen Wire, noted that the acquisition price came in underย $10 million.

How the Marlin Steel Madsen Wire Acquisition Boosts Capacity

Greenblatt explained that combining the two companies increases production capacity and speeds delivery for customers. Together, Marlin and Madsen can handle larger, more complex jobs as more manufacturing opportunities return from overseas, particularly from China.

He emphasized the companiesโ€™ shared commitment to domestic production, stating, โ€œWe are all in on USA manufacturing,โ€ underscoring a focus on reshoring and local supply strength.

Investment, Hiring, and Technology Upgrades at Madsen Wire

Following the deal,ย Madsen Wire Productsย plans to hire additional workers in Indiana to serve new clients and meet rising demand. The company already invested several million dollars inย robotic weldingย andย wire forming technology, which positions the combined business for higher efficiency and consistent quality.

These automation upgrades also support faster turnaround times and improved repeatability on highโ€‘volume wire components.

Quality, Engineering Strength, and Global Reach

Steve Cochran, General Manager at Madsen Wire, highlighted several benefits from the acquisition. He noted that Madsen remains focused on quality and onโ€‘time delivery, while Marlinโ€™s engineering strength adds deeper design and problemโ€‘solving capability.

โ€œBy adding the strong suit of Marlinโ€™s engineering team, our footprint will become global,โ€ Cochran said, pointing to new opportunities with international customers who require engineered wire solutions.

Safety Culture and Workforce Growth

Sellerย Greg Parkerย described the transaction as a strong cultural fit, especially around safety. He noted thatย Marlin Steelย has logged more thanย 1,400 daysย of safety performance, whileย Madsen Wireย has surpassedย 1,000 days, and that shared focus on safety helped build confidence in the partnership.

Greenblatt plans to grow the Madsen workforce by roughlyย 20%, from about three dozen employees to aroundย 45ย in the near term. He stressed that the company seeks โ€œsmart people who want to be part of a growing company,โ€ as demand for U.S.โ€‘made wire products continues to increase.
