Montana Aerospace São Marco Acquisition Strengthens Magnet Wire Business
The Montana Aerospace São Marco acquisition marks a key step in the company’s growth strategy. Montana Aerospace AG, based in Austria, acquired Brazil’s Comercio Ltda. (São Marco), a producer of magnet wire, copper rod, and electro‑insulating varnishes, resins, and lubricants.
With this move, Montana Aerospace expands its range of round wires and conductors and deepens its presence in core industrial and mobility markets.
How the Montana Aerospace São Marco Acquisition Expands Capacity
Over the last decade, Montana Aerospace has shifted from a raw material extrusion supplier to a highly vertically integrated manufacturer with sites on four continents. Now, the Montana Aerospace São Marco acquisition adds fresh production capacity in Brazil plus valuable regional market access.
As a result, the Group strengthens its ability to serve energy infrastructure, motor, and transformer applications that depend on high‑quality magnet wire.
Benefits for Energy and Electric Vehicle Markets
Heinz Riedler, CEO of Montana Aerospace’s Energy Division, noted that the combined experience and knowledge of both companies will strengthen their role as a quality and development partner for the energy market. Furthermore, he explained that the deal reinforces Montana Aerospace’s position in the electric vehicle (EV) market, where advanced conductors and magnet wire are critical for e‑motors and power electronics.
A New Chapter for São Marco
Sergio Valdés, CEO of Viakable, looked back on São Marco’s long partnership before the sale. After 23 years of joint success, he said, the company now enters a new stage with Montana Aerospace.
He added that São Marco will continue to deliver high value to its clients and can position itself as a benchmark supplier in the evolving Brazilian market, especially as demand for energy and EV solutions increases.
