Mueller Industries Expands Its Electrical Portfolio

Theย Mueller Industries acquisitionย ofย Nehring Electrical Works Companyย marks a major step in the companyโ€™s growth strategy.ย Mueller Industries, Inc.ย has agreed to acquire Nehring and several of its affiliated firms for approximatelyย US$575 million, pending standard purchase price adjustments. This strategic move expands Muellerโ€™s position in the wire and cable manufacturing sector and strengthens its role in power and utility markets.

Nehring: Over a Century of American Manufacturing

Based inย DeKalb, Illinois, Nehring Electrical Works producesย wire and cable solutionsย for theย utility, telecom, OEM, and electrical distribution industries. The company operates three main business units โ€”ย Nehring Electrical Works Company,ย Conex Cable, LLC, andย Unified Wire & Cable, Inc.

Nehring serves utilities, municipalities, telecom providers, and electrical distributors across the U.S. In its most recent fiscal year, it reported approximatelyย US$400 million in net sales.

A Legacy Built on Innovation

Nehring is one of the few U.S. companies that manufactures bothย copper and aluminum conductors. Founded inย 1912 by Paul A. Nehring, the company introduced several innovations in wire production. Over the years, ownership changed multiple times. However, since 1995, a private partnership group has owned and operated the business.
