Nexans completes Reka Cable acquisition

Nexansย has completed its acquisition ofย Reka Cables, a Finnish manufacturer of high-, medium-, and low-voltage cables formerly owned by Reka Industrial. This move strengthens Nexansโ€™ operations across the Nordic region and supports its goal to lead global electrification and reach carbon neutrality by 2030.

The acquisition marks another major step in Nexansโ€™ shift toward becoming a pure electrification company. It also aligns with the companyโ€™s sustainability strategy, which focuses on improving every stage of the electrical value chain. By integrating Reka Cables, Nexans expands its offerings and enhances its ability to deliver energy-efficient solutions across Europe.

Reka Cables, headquartered in Hyvinkรครค, Finland, has supplied quality cables for over 60 years to clients in energy, infrastructure, and construction. The company operates three manufacturing plants in Finland, which now complement Nexansโ€™ facilities in Sweden and Norway. In 2022, Reka reported โ‚ฌ172 million in sales and an โ‚ฌ11 million EBITDA, showing steady performance and growth.

Lars Josefsson, General Manager of Nexansโ€™ Nordic Business Unit, said the acquisition helps accelerate electrification both in the Nordic region and worldwide. He added that Nexans aims for 95% of its Nordic product sales to come from locally produced goods by 2025. Thanks to the integration of Reka Cables, Nexans has already reached 90% local production. As a result, the company is on track to achieve its sustainability targets ahead of schedule.

Together, Nexans and Reka create a stronger foundation for renewable energy growth. This partnership improves production capacity, shortens supply chains, and advances Nexansโ€™ mission to build a more sustainable energy future.
