Nexans Signs Agreements for New Cable Plant in Morocco

Nexansย has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the Government of Morocco to build a new state-of-the-art cable plant. The facility, expected to open inย 2026, will support the countryโ€™s growing renewable energy and electrification goals.

Strengthening Moroccoโ€™s Sustainable Energy Goals

Nexans signed the agreements with several government entities, including theย Ministry of Industry and Trade, theย Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, theย Ministry of Investment, theย National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), and theย Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE).

The new facility will represent aย โ‚ฌ100โ€ฏmillion investment, making it Nexansโ€™ third medium-voltage cable plant in Morocco. The company already operates successful production sites in Casablanca and Mohammedia. The project reflects Nexansโ€™ deep commitment to advancing industrial growth and sustainable electrification across Africa.

Driving Job Creation and Innovation

When complete, the cable plant will createย over 200 direct jobsย and adopt the companyโ€™s Industryโ€ฏ4.0 digitalization and efficiency standards. Nexans plans to source advanced technology and sustainable manufacturing practices to deliver high-quality cables to meet growing demand throughout Africa.
