New Submarine Cable Facility in Kaohsiung
NKT HV Cables AB, part of theย NKT Group, andย Walsin Lihwa Corporationย have broken ground on a newย submarine cable manufacturing plantย inย Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The facility will produceย highโ and mediumโvoltage offshore power cablesย to serve Taiwanโs fastโgrowing wind energy market.
Expanding Offshore Cable Production
The joint venture,ย Walsin Energy Cable System Co., Ltd., plans to complete construction byย 2025ย and begin full operations byย 2027. Once finished, it will becomeย Taiwanโs first plantย dedicated to submarine cable production. This marks a major milestone in the nationโs renewable energy development.
The factory will coverย 233,888 square meters of landย and include nearlyย 60,000 square meters of building space. It will specialize inย exportย andย interโarray cables, which connect offshore wind turbines to the mainland power grid.
