NKT to pursue โ€˜green growthโ€™ in Poland

NKT Expands Its Presence in Poland

NKTย has announced plans to strengthen its operations inย Polandย with a newย local execution hub in Gdynia, near the Baltic Sea. The expansion supports NKTโ€™s goal of advancing Polandโ€™sย green energy transformation, positioning the company to meet the rising demand for bothย onshore and offshore power cables.

Preparing for Polandโ€™s Offshore Wind Growth

According to NKT, the new hub will operate as a project execution center rather than a production site. From Gdynia, teams will manage local onshore and offshore cable projects, including upcomingย offshore wind farm installationsย in the Baltic Sea region.

Initially, the company plans to hireย power cable jointersย responsible for cable installation and connection work. Over time, NKT will addย project managers and offshore specialistsย as new renewable energy projects launch across Poland. This step ensures NKT can respond effectively to national infrastructure developments and renewable initiatives.

Building Local Expertise Through the Execution Hub

An NKT spokesperson explained that the Gdynia hub will grow in stages as the Polish power cable market expands. โ€œOur first priority is to bring in skilled cable jointers who can support installation projects,โ€ they said. โ€œLater, we will hire project-oriented staff to manage larger offshore wind initiatives linked to future contracts in Poland.โ€

By developing local expertise,ย NKTย aims to accelerate project delivery and strengthen its Polish supply chain. The company expects to hire its first employees by theย end of 2021, with more positions added asย offshore wind projectsย gain traction in the coming years.

NKT Strengthens Its Polish Footprint

Withย two established manufacturing facilitiesย in Poland already producingย building wires, low-voltage power cables,ย andย PVC compounds, NKT is well-positioned to handle increased electricity infrastructure demand. These facilities will complement the new execution hub, creating a stronger foundation for Polandโ€™s renewable energy goals.

Supporting Polandโ€™s Green Energy Transformation

NKT CEOย Alexander Karaย emphasized that this move reflects the companyโ€™s long-term vision for sustainable energy. โ€œWe already have a strong footprint in Poland,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s natural for us to build on that success. This new hub allows us to play a key role in supporting Polandโ€™s plan to develop up toย 11 GW of offshore wind capacity in the Baltic Sea by 2040.โ€

Asย Polandโ€™s green energy initiativesย accelerate, the new NKT execution hub will serve as an important base for local operations, reinforcing the companyโ€™s commitment to supporting Europeโ€™s renewable transformation and sustainable power transmission infrastructure.
