Large Bar Mill Expands Production Capacity
Primetals designed the large bar mill to produce one million metric tons annually. The system includes a duo-reversing breakdown stand and a finishing train with rolling and sizing stands.
In addition, the mill supplies billets to the smaller mill for further processing. This setup improves efficiency and ensures consistent material flow across operations.
High-Performance Small Bar and Wire Rod Mill
The small bar and wire rod mill delivers an annual capacity of 800,000 metric tons. It operates at 160 tons per hour, making it one of the highest-performing combination mills available.
The system uses low-temperature rolling technology to improve metallurgical structure and enhance mechanical properties. As a result, Hyundai Steel can produce higher-quality end products.
Primetals also integrated advanced mechatronics and automation systems. These features ensure precision, flexibility, and consistent quality throughout the rolling process.
Strengthening Hyundai Steel’s Production Network
Hyundai Steel, part of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group, operates multiple facilities across South Korea and China. The company continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies to support its global operations.
Previously, Hyundai Steel commissioned a continuous bloom casting machine from Primetals. That system delivers 1.1 million metric tons annually and reached final acceptance in 2017.
