Production begins at Sinobrasโ€™s new rolling mill in Brazil provided by Danieli

Sinobras Launches First Coil at New Rolling Mill

Theย Sinobras rolling mill 2 capacity expansionย has reached a major milestone asย Siderรบrgica Norte Brasil (Sinobras), part of Brazilโ€™sย Aรงo Cearense Groupย (grupoacocearense.com.br), produces the first steel coil at its newย rolling mill #2ย in Marabรก, Parรก, Brazil. This achievement signals a new growth phase for Sinobras in the Brazilian long steel market.

Capacity Expansion With Danieli Technology

Sinobras invested in a new rolling mill from Italian equipment supplierย Danieliย (danieli.com). With this step, the company lifts its annual capacity fromย 380,000 tonsย toย 850,000 tonsย of wire rod and spooled rebar in coils. The mill uses aย full cantilever stand configurationย withย 26 passes. It includesย 10 cantilever standsย in an H/V layout, thenย Delta-type fast-finishing blocksย with aย 45ยฐ designย for the lastย 16 passes, which improves precision and productivity.

Product Range and High-Speed Operation

The new mill producesย wire rod from 5.5 mm to 16 mmย andย rebar from 6.3 mm to 16 mmย in coils. In addition, it reaches a maximum finishing speed ofย 110 m/s. This higher speed helps Sinobras deliver larger volumes, more consistent quality, and better service to construction and industrial customers.

Power Infrastructure and Belo Monte Energy

The expansion project also adds a newย substationย and aย 230 kV transmission line. These upgrades support the higher power demand of rolling mill #2. They also allow Sinobras to use energy from theย Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant, where the company participates as aย self-producer partner, aligning higher output with more secure and cleaner power.

A Transformative Milestone for Aรงo Cearense Group

Sinobras Industrial Directorย Milton Limaย describes the project as a turning point for the Group. He notes that this achievement doubles the size of Sinobras and takes the company to a higher level. With theย Sinobras rolling mill 2 capacity expansion, the producer grows into a regional steel powerhouse and creates new opportunities for growth and employment.
