Prysmian investment will convert Jackson plant to just optical fiber cable production

Prysmian Group Jackson Plant Investment Expands U.S. Fiber Network

Prysmian Groupย announced aย $30 million investmentย in itsย Jackson, Tennessee plantย to transition fully to optical fiber cable production. This bold move meets growing broadband demand fueled by federal and state connectivity programs. It also supports the nationwide shift from copper to fiber networks.

As broadband expands, Prysmian continues to adapt its operations to power digital infrastructure across the United States.

Expanding Fiber Capacity Across North America

With this latest funding, Prysmianโ€™s total optical cable investment in North America now reachesย $115 million. The new Jackson expansion adds to theย $85 millionย announced last year. Together, these projects enhance the companyโ€™s manufacturing capacity and strengthen supply efficiency.

By producing more fiber domestically, Prysmian reduces lead times and lowers its carbon footprint. As a result, customers benefit from faster delivery and improved service reliability.

Transforming the Jackson Facility

Theย Prysmian Group Jackson plant investmentย will convert the facility from copper toย loose tube and drop optical cableย production. Workers will receive updated training in fiber manufacturing, helping create new skills and opportunities.

This transition also marks the firstย Prysmian Groupย site fully redesigned for a new product focus. Furthermore, it positions the Jackson plant to lead regional production for next-generation broadband networks.

Driving Digital Inclusion and Smart Growth

โ€œNorth America remains a key global market,โ€ saidย Patrick Jacobi, Vice President of Telecom forย Prysmian Group North America. โ€œBy building more optical cables in the U.S., we improve quality, reduce emissions, and prepare communities for 5G, smart homes, and smart cities.โ€

Through these investments, Prysmian helps close the digital divide and supports sustainable broadband expansion across North America.

Strengthening Regional Operations

In addition to Jackson, Prysmian operatesย 28 plants,ย 8 distribution centers, andย 6 R&D hubsย across North America. The Tennessee expansion boosts overall efficiency and advances the companyโ€™s innovation strategy.
