Republic Steel Trucking Payment Case Ends With $4.6 Million Judgment
Republic Steel must pay more than $4.6 million to Beemac Trucking after a federal court ruling upheld a jury verdict in favor of the Pennsylvania-based trucking company. The order follows a long-running dispute over unpaid transportation services provided to the steel manufacturer.
A federal district judge in Pennsylvania issued a final judgment against Republic Steel in August 2025. The decision upholds a prior jury verdict awarding nearly $2.5 million to Beemac Inc., doing business as Beemac Trucking, and almost $2 million to Deemac Services, both located in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
Dispute Over Unpaid Services
Beemac first filed its lawsuit in September 2020, claiming Republic Steel failed to pay more than $2.2 million for trucking services. The steelmaker disputed the claim, arguing it owed only $1.2 million. However, after extensive proceedings, a partial summary judgment went to Beemac in January 2025, and a federal jury reinforced that decision in July.
Judge William S. Stickman IV finalized the ruling in August, confirming Republic Steel’s obligation to pay the full awarded amount.
Republic Steel’s Business Changes
The ruling came shortly after Republic Steel announced in August that it would close two U.S. manufacturing plants and shift production to Mexico. The company’s parent firm, Grupo Simec, operates various steel production sites across Mexico and North America.
These operational changes mark a significant shift in Republic Steel’s U.S. footprint, while the judgment adds new financial challenges for the company.
