SubCom to manufacture and supply a regional subsea cable for Bahrain

SubCom Al Khaleej Subsea Cable Project Expands Bahrainโ€™s Connectivity

SubComย has partnered withย Batelco, part of theย Beyon Group, to deliver theย Al Khaleej subsea cable system. This important network branch will extend from theย SEA-ME-WE 6ย cable system and improve digital capacity across the Arabian Gulf. Theย SubCom Al Khaleej subsea cable projectย will significantly boost Bahrainโ€™s data exchange and strengthen its role as a regional telecom hub.

Expanding Regional Data Connectivity

The newย Al Khaleej cableย will span 1,400 km, linking Bahrain with Qatar, the UAE, and Oman. SubCom is manufacturing the system at itsย Newington, New Hampshireย facility, using its advanced fiber-optic cable technology.

Once operational, the project will increase network diversity and ensure faster, more reliable internet routes. It will also enhance regional connectivity by linking to theย SEA-ME-WE 6, a 21,700 km subsea telecommunications system connecting Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

SubCom and Batelco Strengthen Partnership

Benoit Duguet, Project Manager at SubCom, praised the strong collaboration. โ€œOur team is already producing the cable and equipment for one of the regionโ€™s most extensive projects,โ€ he said. โ€œWe appreciate the trust from theย SEA-ME-WE 6 consortiumย and especially fromย Batelco, as we build infrastructure that will transform Gulf connectivity.โ€

Powering Growth Through the SEA-ME-WE 6 System

Batelcoย joined the SEA-ME-WE 6 consortium alongside major global partners such asย Bharti Airtel,ย China Unicom,ย Orange,ย Djibouti Telecom, andย Telekom Malaysia. Together, the consortium is developing a cable system capable of transferring overย 100 terabits per second.

This advanced data capacity will increase redundancy, improve bandwidth, and enhance network resilience along high-traffic routes between the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Moreover, it supports the regionโ€™s long-term digital transformation goals.

Building the Future of Subsea Technology

SubComย continues to lead the way in high-fiber-count subsea cable manufacturing. Its expertise drives projects that expand global connectivity and digital access. Theย SubCom Al Khaleej subsea cable projectย and SEA-ME-WE 6 extension are both on track for completion byย Q2 2026.

With strong collaboration and state-of-the-art engineering, SubCom helps bridge nations and foster faster, more resilient communications worldwide.
