Taihan Cable marks official opening of the 1st optical fiber plant in Kuwait

Taihan Cable & Solution Co. held a completion ceremony for its new Taihan Kuwait optical fiber plant on September 9. The facility sits in the Mina Abdullah Industrial Area, southeast of Kuwait City. This new location marks a major step in Taihanโ€™s effort to expand across the Middle East cable market.

Advanced Manufacturing for the Middle East

According to Yonhap News, the 5,000-square-meter plant includes both manufacturing and testing equipment identical to those at Taihanโ€™s Dangjin factory in South Korea. This ensures consistent production standards across facilities. Taihan completed the project in partnership with Rank General Trading and Contracting Co., a trusted local builder.

Now fully operational,ย Taihan Kuwaitย begins large-scale optical fiber production this month. With this addition, Taihan now operatesย seven plants worldwideย โ€” three inย South Koreaย and one each inย Saudi Arabia,ย South Africa,ย Vietnam, andย Kuwait. Together, these sites strengthen the companyโ€™s ability to serve a fast-growing global market.

Strengthening Presence Across GCC Markets

During the completion ceremony, company leaders presented the details of the plantโ€™s development and led facility tours. They also emphasized Taihanโ€™s goal of leading the Kuwaiti optical cable market, which has long relied on imports.

Meanwhile, demand for optical cables in Kuwait continues to surge under theย โ€œNew Kuwait 2035โ€ national plan, which focuses on modernization and digital transformation. Therefore, Taihan aims not only to secure Kuwaitโ€™s market but also to expand intoย GCC countriesย such asย Saudi Arabiaย andย Qatar, where infrastructure growth remains strong.

Commitment to Global Competitiveness

Vice Chairman Song Jong Min stated that the new plant expands the companyโ€™s capacity to meet rising global demand. โ€œBy establishing production in Kuwait, following our Dangjin factory, we can respond quickly to regional needs,โ€ he said. Moreover, Taihan plans to enhance national competitiveness by focusing on global expansion and localized production.

In short, the Taihan Kuwait optical fiber plant positions the company at the forefront of the Middle Eastโ€™s rapidly developing telecommunications sector. With strong regional partnerships and innovative technology, Taihan continues to build its reputation as a global leader in high-performance cable manufacturing.
