The Ege Çelik wire rod mill upgrade expands production capacity, improves product precision, and advances the company’s commitment to cleaner, more efficient steelmaking.
This modernization also helps Ege Çelik meet growing demand in Turkish and European markets for high-grade wire rod products.
Increased Efficiency and Product Range from the Ege Çelik Wire Rod Mill Upgrade
With this major upgrade, Ege Çelik can now produce wire rods with a smoother surface finish and tighter dimensional tolerances. The thermomechanical rolling process enhances drawability and lowers the cost of heat treatment.
As a result, the company improves energy performance while maintaining consistent, high-quality output. Commissioning for the new outlet is expected in summer 2023.
Higher Rolling Speeds and Production Flexibility
The upgraded mill will roll wire rods between 5.5 mm and 26 mm in diameter. Rolling speeds will reach 134 tons per hour, or 120 tons per hour using thermomechanical techniques. It supports both 130 mm and 160 mm billets, giving Ege Çelik greater operational flexibility.
The expanded production line now includes low, medium, and high‑carbon steels, as well as cold heading quality and welding wire grades that serve key sectors such as automotive and manufacturing.
