The Wire Association International (WAI) hosted the 2023 International Technical Conference in Monterrey, Mexico, on November 13–14 at the Crowne Plaza Monterrey. The event brought together 208 participants from 70 organizations and delivered strong engagement across the wire and cable industry.

The WAI International Technical Conference Monterrey 2023 featured 17 technical sessions over two days. Attendees, especially those in the nonferrous and electrical sectors, responded positively to the high-quality content.
At the same time, the Suppliers Market showcased 33 companies, allowing participants to explore new technologies while attending sessions.
Industry Insights and Key Discussions
The opening panel, moderated by WAI President Kurt Breischaft of SDI La Farga COPPERWORKS, included leaders from Kobrex, Viakable, and DeAcero. Panelists addressed key topics such as nearshoring, geopolitics, artificial intelligence, environmental responsibility, and market conditions.
These themes continued throughout the conference, with presentations from companies including Borealis, Condumex, CTC Global, Enkotec, Rosendahl Nextrom, Niehoff Endex North America, and Troester.
Networking and Supplier Engagement
In addition to technical sessions, attendees participated in a well-attended networking reception and dinner. The event took place in the Suppliers Market area, which encouraged direct interaction with exhibitors and technical experts.
Furthermore, a live Mexican band enhanced the experience, while attendees actively engaged with new manufacturing solutions presented by exhibitors.
Facility Tour and Event Success
The conference concluded with sold-out tours of the Viakable plant, which attendees praised for their organization and technical value.
