Southeast Chapter: with all the golf plans meshing, it was mission accomplished

The Southeast Chapter delivered a well-organized and successful 22nd annual golf tournament, proving that strong planning and execution drive results—whether on the course or in a wire and cable facility.

Event Overview

The Southeast Chapter hosted the 2023 Vannais Outing on September 12 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, North Carolina. The event honors Stephen Vannais, a founding member and former chapter president. A total of 83 players participated, creating a competitive and engaging atmosphere.

Tournament Winners

Two teams finished tied at 14 under par. The team from Technical Development Corp.—Travis Card, William Godwin, Andrew Godwin, and Paul Godwin—secured first place after a PGA-compliant scorecard review.

The CommScope team—Eric Ellwanger, Jimmy Lail, Trev Raymond—and Sikora’s Todd Hudson earned second place with the same score.

The third-place team included Tim McElhany of Process Controls and CommScope members Jason Marrow, David Cabe, and Ricky Rudisill. Officials applied PGA rules to determine final standings.

Standout Moment

Kendal Deep of Sonoco Reels achieved a rare hole-in-one on a 262-yard par-four at Hole 7 on the Jackson Course. Sponsored by Sikora, the “Most Accurate Drive” contest gained new significance with this milestone achievement.

Chapter President John Dognazzi highlighted the moment as a first in Southeast Chapter history, noting its impact on both participants and future competitions.

Chapter leadership recognized the Board of Directors for organizing the event and acknowledged Tim McElhany for his long-standing contributions.
