Wire Expo 2026 Education Begins with WAI’s Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course

The Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course launches Wire Expo 2026 with a full-day, pre-conference education program led by industry experts. Organized by WAI, the course provides practical grounding in core wire and cable processes, with specialized ferrous and nonferrous tracks designed to build confidence and technical understanding.

Many attendees begin their Wire Expo 2026 experience before the exhibit floor opens by joining The Wire Association International’s Fundamentals of Wire Manufacturing Course. This full-day pre-conference program continues to rank as one of WAI’s most in-demand training opportunities.

A Practical Foundation for Wire Manufacturing Professionals

The Fundamentals course delivers a clear, practical overview of wire and cable manufacturing processes, making it ideal for both new and experienced professionals. Attendees gain a strong understanding of key terminology, production workflows, and problem-solving strategies used across the industry.

This course supports:

  • New hires entering the wire and cable industry
  • Early-career engineers
  • Sales and technical service teams
  • Operations and production personnel

Participants leave with a better understanding of how each process connects across the full manufacturing lifecycle, improving communication and performance across departments.

As John Markowski, Manager of Education at The Wire Association International (https://wirenet.org), explains, the course helps attendees build confidence in understanding how wire is manufactured, why challenges occur, and how teams collaborate within a production environment.

Core Concepts and Breakout Training Tracks

The program begins with general sessions that establish a strong technical foundation. Topics include wire drawing, dies and lubrication, wire breaks, surface defects, and troubleshooting methods.

After lunch, attendees choose a specialized breakout track based on their focus area:

  • Ferrous Track: Covers metallurgy, cleaning and coating processes, property testing, and heat treatment
  • Nonferrous Track: Focuses on stranding, cabling, extrusion, electrical testing, and product marking

This structure allows participants to combine broad industry knowledge with targeted technical training.

Industry-Led Instruction and Ongoing Resources

Experienced professionals from across the wire and cable industry lead each session, sharing real-world insights from manufacturing, equipment, and technical service environments.

Participants receive digital course materials they can access before, during, and after the event, allowing them to revisit key concepts and apply what they learn on the job.

The course runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and includes breakfast, lunch, and scheduled breaks. A closing social hour encourages networking and peer-to-peer learning between attendees and instructors.

Registration and Event Details

Attendees must add the Fundamentals course during the Wire Expo 2026 registration process. Pricing includes:

  • $275 for WAI members
  • $345 for non-members

Advance registration closes on April 24, 2026.
