Amphenol Expands Global Reach with $11.5 Billion in Cable and Connectivity Acquisitions
Amphenol Corporation announced on August 4 that it will acquire CommScopeโs Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS) business for $10.5 billion. Soon after, the company revealed another major move in the interconnect market.
Amphenol to Acquire Trexon for $1 Billion
On August 18, Amphenol announced an agreement to purchase Trexon from Audax Private Equity in a deal estimated at $1 billion.
Trexon, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, employs about 1,100 people worldwide. The company designs customโengineered interconnect solutions, including specialty cables, cable assemblies, and connectors for defense, aerospace, industrial, and specialty markets.
CommScope Acquisition Set to Close in 2026
Amphenolโs CommScope acquisition, its largest to date, is expected to close in the first half of 2026, according to Reuters.
The deal will make Amphenol a major force in the global wire and cable market. It expands the companyโs broadband and fiberโoptic product portfolio, adding scale to its operations and reach.
Before the acquisition, Amphenol was widely recognized for its connectors and specialty cables, while CommScopeโs CCS business excelled in fiberโoptic and copper connectivity for broadband networks, cable television, and data centers.
Strengthening Broadband and Fiber Infrastructure
CommScopeโs CCS division employs more than 15,000 people globally, operating key manufacturing and distribution hubs in the U.S. It also maintains significant facilities across Latin America, Europe, AsiaโPacific, India, China, and the Middle East.
Amphenol CEO R. Adam Norwitt told CNBC the merger represents โa strong longโterm growth opportunity.โ He said, โWe are excited to welcome the talented CCS team to Amphenol.โ
The companyโs statement confirmed that the acquisition enhances Amphenolโs fiberโoptic interconnect capabilities, particularly for data centers and broadband infrastructure projects.
Creating One of the Largest U.S. Cable Manufacturers
Legal advisor Latham & Watkins stated that combining Amphenolโs existing operations with the new acquisitions positions the company as one of the largest U.S. wire and cable manufacturers.
The move strengthens Amphenolโs competitive edge in broadband connectivity and fiberโoptic innovation, aligning with rising global demand for faster communication networks.
For CommScope, divesting the CCS business marks a strategic realignment. The company will continue to operate its Access Network Solutions and Ruckus segments.
